Hi folks:

We have ourselves a mild weather day, enough to melt some of that snow we have accumulated this month. Nothing in comparison to tomorrow though. I heard a high for Sunday of +7. I think I will wear my rubber boots to church.

On Tuesday Morning, our Fundraising Committee met. It is still not too late to get a MacMillan's order in, so if you are interested in ordering some easy to prepare cookies, muffins, pizzas, soups, and horsd'oevres, please see me tomorrow and I'll give you a form to fill out, or contact me by email or phone by Monday. . Also, please put aside any of your old electronics that you were thinking of recycling, and keep them for our own Electronic Recycling Fundraising Event on Saturday April 18th from 9 to 4 pm.

Diane Arbuckle and Jean Mowat will be selling homemade Easter Eggs starting this Sunday, and will continue to do so every Sunday until Easter. I understand they are quite delicious, and freeze easily, so I think I will be stockpiling these eggs. Each egg cost $5:00, and when you see them, you'll understand how much of a bargain that is. Our Next Fundraising Team Meeting will be Tuesday April 7 at 10:30 am.

On Wednesday morning, our Worship Committee met. We focused on preparing for our Lenten Season. We will be doing a special Minute For Mission throughout Lent. Each Sunday, a different member of the Worship Committee will be challenging you to take on something new to change your life for the better, and to make a difference in your world. Nothing major, just simple things to help us re-focus and remember in the love of Christ what is truly important in our living.

We will also be presenting a skit on Sunday March 15th called Lent is Spent, which takes a humourous look of what it means to take on something new for Lent, instead of giving something up. Our next Worship Committee meeting will be Wed. March 25 at 10:30 am.

On Thursday evening our Pastoral Care Group met and we had a very helpful conversation over dinner about how we can best serve the people in our congregation in need of pastoral care. We will be doing this monthly from now on, so please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team if you or someone you know is in need of pastoral care.  Our next Pastoral Care meeting will be Thurs. March 19 at 5:00 pm.

Here's what’s happening next week at South Gloucester.

Mon. Feb. 24 at 7:00 pm - Faith Formation Session - Engaging Culture With The Gospel - Please Read Acts 17.

Tues. Feb. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. - Pancake Supper - Free Will Offering

Tues. Feb. 25 at 7:00 pm - Council Meeting

Thurs. Feb. 27 at 7:00 pm - Choir Practice

This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday. I will be focusing on Matthew 17:1-9. I will be telling a story on this text from the point of view of Jesus, at least what I believe Jesus was thinking about at this incredibly spiritual event. It's always a little risky to attempt to understand the person of Jesus in any situation, but don't worry, I know I'm not the Messiah, and if I forget, I'll trust you'll remind me. 😊

Also, our Annual Meeting takes place tomorrow following the service. We will have some hard copies of the reports available, but we would ask that most of you bring your tablets, i-pads, or laptops to church, or your own hard copy to the church. I understand that many of you had a hard time printing off the minutes of last year's meeting that I sent, so I will have extra copies of that available. I hope to see many of you tomorrow.

Well, that's it for me folks.

Take care and God Bless

Ed
