Hi Folks:

It's a beautiful sunny day today. So nice to see that yellow orb in the sky, even if it is cold. I believe the people who organize Winterlude are very pleased with this change in weather, although it will be warm by Tuesday again. I hear the Ice Sculptures on Sparks Street are beautiful, so go see them soon, because the upcoming warm weather will alter their appearance.

On Monday night, we had our third Faith Formation Session on Epiphany and God's Mission. It was an opportunity to talk about how the Early Church welcomed newcomers who were different than the first believers, which provided the chance for us to talk about how the church welcomes newcomers, especially people who are different than us, approaching faith and worship in a way we have not done so before.  We had a very good conversation on this topic. Our Next Session is Monday Feb. 10 at 7 pm.  It is entitled "Growth Through Controversy." Please read Acts 15 in preparation. All are welcome.

On Tuesday afternoon, our Bridge Club met. Some of our regulars were away, so we only had two tables, but everybody seemed to have a good time. We welcomed Irene for the first time. Her presence added to the joy of our group, and we hope to see her again. Our next Bridge Session is Tues. Feb. 18 at 2:00 pm.  All are welcome.

On Thursday afternoon, a group of us were busy making a decision on a new digital piano to replace the one that ended its life with us. You will hear more about this at our Annual Meeting, but for now, a decision to purchase has been made, and we are moving closer to having a new instrument in our sanctuary to enhance our music ministry. More info to come, stay tuned.

On Saturday we will have our Next Messy Church. We are going to have a large group out for our Session called: "Our Community, Making A Difference, based on the Parable of the Mustard Seed, which tells us that even the smallest of seeds can grow to make a huge impact in life. We believe this about our children, and look forward to joyfully sharing this gospel reminder with them.

Here are some of the things happening next week.

Mon. Feb. 10 - Faith Formation Session at 7 pm.

Thurs. Feb. 13 - Skit Practice for Sunday School at 6:00 pm

Thurs. Feb, 13 - Choir Practice at 7 pm.

On Sunday morning, we will be focusing on Matthew 5:1-12, the Beatitudes. I will be looking at them as a whole, emphasizing the simplicity, the hopefulness, and the compassion that all 9 blessings contain, arguing that a holistic approach toward the beatitudes is more practical in our daily living, than striving to live out all 9 blessings, one at a time.

Well that's it for me folks.

Take care and God Bless.

Ed
